Mike and Ernest Felix are brothers from West Fresno. They were born in the 1970’s and were Popping during the 1980. This time in Fresno was the prime years for popping. Every weekend there were popping events all over the city especially at Roeding and Kearney Park. Mike and Ernest were part of a dance crew named Mystic Touch which battled against rival crews across the city. Mike and Ernest speak highly of this period. According to the Felix brothers, this period was characterized by creativity and tone of peace within the popping community. The brothers share their stories of the emergence of popping and how it eventually declined in the late 1980’s because the rise of gangs. The Felix brothers detail how popping influenced them and how they intend to educate the younger generations of dancers.
