Movement as Culture: Dance in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Diaspora

Acknowledgements

We worked closely with many library partners in developing this project and warmly thank them for their critical contributions:

This Fall of 2019, Leigh Anne Lieberman, Director of Digital Humanities at The Claremont Colleges, was our main trainer in Scalar, and central point of support. Leigh led 5 group training sessions, and was generous with one-on-one sessions and email assistance, as we learned to imagine and develop the projects in this platform. We are so grateful for her dedication to this project.

We have also received training from Holly Gardinier, Arts and Humanities Librarian of The Claremont Colleges Library, who assisted us in introducing  the electronic resources in our consortium libraries. Jennifer Martinez Wormser ’95, Director and Sally Preston Swan Librarian for the Ella Strong Denison Library, alongside Dorran Boyle, Library Associate, both at Scripps College, shared with us the relevant rare book collections and resources at Denison library.

We are also grateful to the Scripps Dance Department:
Suchi Branfman, Lecturer in Dance
Ronnie Brosterman, Professor of Dance, and Chair, Department of Dance
Pat Bostock-Smith, Faculty Administrative Assistant
Andrea Cordova-Caddes, Visiting Lecturer in Dance
Sheetal Gandhi
, Visiting Lecturer in Dance
Phylise Smith, Lecturer in Dance
Kevin Williamson
, Assistant Professor of Dance

For their support for this course and the students.

We also thank Megan S. Mitchell, Academic Engagement & Digital Initiatives Coordinator at Oberlin College Library, who supported the first version of this project, and also thank the first cohort of students of “Movement as Culture” in Fall 2016 at Oberlin, who were the initial group to try out this process.
